April 2009

Recent Fantoosh! performances include a concert for Motherwell Music Society, a concert at Selkirk Rugby Club featuring guetsts form the Junior Riddell Fiddles, and a support slot at the Edinburgh Folk Club. All of these gigs went down really well with loads of great audience feedback. A huge thank you to the Riddell Fiddles who were fantastic!

Our next concert is at 7.30pm on Friday 29th May at Penicuik North Kirk. The concert is a fundraiser for the church's chosen charity working to help those with leprosy in India. There will be a short slot performed by the Beelsack High School stings group who will also be playing along with Fantoosh in the finale. Jenni will be leading the pupils in a workshop at Beeslack before the night of the concert, during which they will learn some new tunes and be interviewed and recorderd live for Midlothian's Black Diamond Radio.

Future dates also include a performance at the Civic Reception of the World Congress of Veterinary Anaesthesia at Glasgow City Chambers in September, the bi-annual Charlestown Hogmanay Ceilidh 2009 and concerts for Arran, Kyles of Bute and Hawick Music Societies in early 2010.

We are currently taking bookings for ceilidhs and concerts over the next few months and also hope to start work on our next album very soon. Edinburgh based duo Fair Witness, with whom Fantoosh have played joint concerts at the Brechin Festival of the Arts and Edinburgh Festival Fringe are currently working on their next album and Fantoosh will be performing on it as guest artists. Visit www.fairwitnessmusic.com for the latest news on that.
